How to Proceed

  2. We would need your most recent medical documents about your condition should you possess any. Don’t worry about your privacy, your information is protected under HIPAA law and treated as Personal Health Information.
  3. The second step is an interview with a basic questionnaire to get some detailed information about you. Our skilled medical consultants will contact you for this.
  4. Sometimes a basic physical examination is recommended for updated information about your medical condition. This might require going to a physician’s appointment.
  5. After this it’s time for a quote and then a call or video meeting with the physician of your choice. To walk through the process, click Patient Path link.

Hospitals in Nordics are among the best ones in the world. However, despite careful screening and preoperative effort in every invasive medical procedure there is always a chance that not everything goes as planned. This is why we wanted to protect you with a third party insurer.


To care after our clients in every step of their journey we provide two separate insurances to take care of additional expenses and treatment in unfavourable situations. No-one would appreciate insecurity and unexpected costs especially if there’s personal health in question. Insurance is included in every patient’s treatment plan automatically. The first is a private insurance through an American company, the latter one is a national insurance through Finnish Patient Injuries Act. Please read below for more details.

Path Surgery will happily assist you with any questions you might have before going for treatment. We are committed in helping you with any problems where insurance might be needed during and after treatment – terminology and paper work between Nordics and USA might be something that you’d not do happily. That’s why we are there to help out. Insurance-related help is included in your medical travel bill – we are at your service even after the treatment and after returning to home country to ensure hassle-free communication with medical experts and insurance company if there’s any need for extra attention. Complications and Travel Insurance by Global Protective Solutions

Our partnering insurance company Customer Assurance Placement, Ltd. does offer a unique insurance for medical travelers. The insurance consists of regular travel insurance to cover for travel-related troubles and medical complications insurance which will assist should there be any need for additional, unplanned care in medical tourism location or extra treatment after returning back to USA. The main purpose for this particular insurance is to get patient in good secondary treatment in Finland or in USA without extra costs for the patient. Finnish Patient Insurance Law – Patient Insurance Center (PIC)

Finland is known to have a very transparent and effective healthcare system. As training of physicians is demanding and all doctors must have years and years of experience before proceeding to more difficult operations, the overall quality of surgeries in every specialty is very good. However, every now and there are cases which require more closer examination.

The juridical system of Finland is known to be thorough, unbiased and strict. Every patient claim is treated in the same way: Suspected malpractice cases and other treatment errors will undergo an investigation through a public, impartial organization called Patient Insurance Center. This unbiased stakeholder consists of board of expert physicians that analyze each case individually. Main purpose of this organization is to create transparency in treatment accidents, avoid expensive court cases and speed up the processing time. They receive roughly 8,000 cases annually of which 30% are entitled to indemnity. Compensation varies from thousands to tens of thousands of euros and is fully dependent on the type of harm caused. Average duration of case review is 6 months and requires complete documents and written material from surgery and treatment.

As Patient Insurance Center is located in Finland, Path Surgery staff is committed in helping all their patients in filing insurance claims to PIC for no extra charge. Path Surgery staff will assist any client of theirs happily in such cases and will work as a link between USA and Finland. This is not a major medical policy. Eligible claim expenses would be submitted with a claim form for approval and reimbursement to the claimant. Travel departure and return dates must commence and terminate within 30 days. If a trip is going to be longer than 30 days, special rating and underwriting is required. A covered complication must occur within 180 days of the procedure date.
